About SGA Nepal
We are Nepal's dedicated platform for skills gap analysis — connecting research, industry, and academia to build a stronger, future-ready workforce.
Mission & Vision
Our Mission
To systematically identify, analyse, and communicate skills gaps across Nepal's key economic sectors through rigorous research, enabling evidence-based policy and curriculum reform that strengthens workforce readiness and drives inclusive economic growth.
Our Vision
A Nepal where every graduate enters the workforce fully equipped with the skills industry demands — where academic institutions and employers collaborate continuously to eliminate skills mismatches and build a globally competitive Nepali workforce.
What is Skills Gap Analysis?
A Skills Gap Analysis is a systematic process of identifying the difference between the skills that employees or job seekers currently possess and the skills that employers require for effective job performance.
In Nepal's context, this means examining what universities and technical schools are teaching versus what industries actually need — and identifying the critical gaps that prevent graduates from contributing effectively to the workforce.
Our analysis covers technical skills (hard skills specific to a profession), soft skills (communication, teamwork, leadership), digital skills (technology literacy), and transferable skills (problem-solving, critical thinking).
The Analysis Framework
Why It Matters in Nepal
Nepal's economic transformation depends on a skilled, adaptable workforce. Yet persistent misalignment between education and industry creates barriers at every level.
Nepal's economic growth is constrained by a significant disconnect between what educational institutions produce and what employers need. Addressing this requires a clear understanding of where the gaps exist.
Industrial Growth
Nepal's expanding manufacturing, IT, and service sectors demand skilled workers that the current education system is not producing at pace.
Education Quality
Curricula in many institutions lag industry by 5–10 years, resulting in graduates who lack practical, job-ready competencies expected by employers.
Employability Challenges
Over 42% of Nepali graduates report difficulty finding employment matching their qualification — a direct consequence of skills misalignment.
Workforce Readiness
Preparing Nepal's youth for 21st-century jobs requires systematic, data-driven reforms to both education delivery and employer training practices.
